About the Department

The Electrical and Electronics Engineering department was started in the year 1939 as premier institute in the field of Technical Education, with three-year full-time diploma program having sanctioned intake of 40 students. Also, the four-year part time diploma program on EEE was started in the year 1980 with an intake of 40 students. At present the sanctioned intake for Fulltime course is 120 and the Part time course is 60.

The EEE department has well qualified Staff and all the Laboratories are well equipped. We are organizing regular Industrial Visits, Internship Training, Seminars to all students. The EEE department has the best laboratory infrastructure with free access to the students and prepare them for the industrial needs and industrial practices.

The students of EEE department have got placement in Core and Allied Industries in and around Chennai District. Job opportunities exist in Government/Public sector & leading private industries.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

PEO 1: The diploma engineers will have strong knowledge in the fundamentals and applications of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and will have enhanced employability skills with strong ethical values.

PEO 2: The diploma engineers will become eminent engineers by enriching their knowledge through higher studies and life-long learning in related discipline.

PEO 3: The diploma engineers will be motivated for taking the entrepreneurship and leadership to cater to the needs of industries and society.

Program Outcomes (POs)

PO 1: Basic and Discipline Basic knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO 2: Problem analysis: Identify and analyze well defined engineering problems using codified standard methods.

PO 3: Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.

PO 4: Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing: Apply modern engineering tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.

PO 5: Engineering practices for society, sustainability, environment: Apply appropriate technology in the context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.

PO 6: Project management: Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well- defined engineering activities.

PO 7: Life long learning: Ability to analyze individual needs and engage in updating in the contest of technological changes.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

PSO 1: The students can apply the principles of electrical and electronics engineering for the problem solving, operation, maintenance and managing the electrical and electronic systems in core and allied industries.

PSO 2: The students can design and estimate the total electrical items required and their cost for residential building, workshop and laboratories as an individual and as a team in electrical project management.
