About the Department
The Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering became a part of this oldest institution in the year 1996 under World Bank Scheme. The main focus of the ECE department is to impart the world class standard of technical education in the field of Electronics and Communication for the benefit of the society. In a very short span of time since the Department was launched in our College, it has made a name for itself through Workshops, Performance in the Examinations and Placement.
The Curriculum adopted is of 'Semester System' and the course is affiliated to DOTE (Directorate Of Technical Education). The Course has access to enhance the learning, student Perspective and experience to develop a specialization in areas of 'Electronics and Communication Engineering'. Classroom learning is complemented by practical in well equipped labs, projects and hands-on experiences, so as to foster knowledge in 'Engineering and Technology'.
Our department is equipped with eminent faculty members who are expertise in various technical domains. Initially the department has been sanctioned with two senior lecturer, six number of lecturers and one HOD. Presently the total strength of regular teaching faculty members in the department is 4 including myself and all of them are qualified with Masters Degree.
The students are made well qualified to meet the demands of the Industry and Research Organization. The sanctioned intake is 40 in addition with 8 in lateral entry stream. Later the intake is increased to 60 along with 12 in lateral entry stream in the year 2002-03. With a feather added in it's cap, an additional class under Self Supporting Scheme was introduced with a sanctioned intake of 30 and 6 in lateral entry scheme in the year 2007-08. Then the strength is further increased to 60 with 6 in lateral entry scheme in the year 2018-19, now with a total strength of 120 with 12 in lateral entry stream.
To impart quality technical Education, the department is continuously working to get additional fund from AICTE by MODROBS scheme. In the year 2003-04 we have sanctioned with six lakh rupees to modernize Microcontroller and communication lab.
The staff members are continuously updating themselves to the changing trends of technology through seminars, workshops and other FDP programmes conducted by ISTE, AICTE, NITTTR and NPTEL.
Our students bagged several state ranks in various Board exams conducted by DOTE. They are also motivated to participate in paper presentation, project exhibition and other non technical competitions. They have enrolled themselves in various social activities such as NSS, RRC, YRC and Green Club to motivate their social awareness.
